Food for Thought

Have you ever kept seeing an image in your mind's eye, and were compelled to find a way to honor it? That's how this series of drawings got started. I won't say much about them, other than it was fun to play with pastels, charcoal, and other mixed media. I'm curious about what you think.

  1. Really beautiful and lifelike drawings...The grocery store stickers are very clever. Most fish is purchased already gutted, scaled and filleted so we miss out on the beauty of these creatures and don't respect their sacrifice to us.

  2. Thanks for your thoughtful comments Isobel. I've always been fascinated by the beauty of fish, and drawing them in this context really makes me think about what I consume. I think of how our oceans are so over-fished, and how fish are much smaller today. If anything, this exercise will make me think twice about what I eat.
