Pussy Riot

Here's a portrait the feminist punk rock collective, Pussy Riot. This Russian band uses their music and performance to support the rights of women, immigrants, and the LGBT community. They also stand in opposition to the draconian policies of Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Signed prints of this portrait are available here!

This pen & ink portrait was drawn on a 1941 map of the Soviet Union.

Thanks for visiting!

Jean Sebelius

Here’s a portrait of famed composer, Jean Sibelius, drawn on a map of Finland. His brilliant compositions helped Finland forge it’s own unique identity in it’s struggle for independence from Russia. The original drawing is available here!

Mike Tyson

Here's my charcoal portrait of boxer, Mike Tyson, one of the most complex characters to come out of Brooklyn. He's a combination of fierceness, sensitivity, intelligence, volatility and self-depreciating humor - all wrapped into one larger-than-life human being. Prints of this piece are available here!

Polar Bear

In recognition of the frigid weather which is affecting the northeastern United States, I was compelled to draw a polar bear. It's a nice companion piece to another drawing I did in December (below). You can view a big gallery of my maps drawings here! Prints of this piece are available here!

Dallas Magazine Illustrations

I had the pleasure of creating these tiny spot illustrations for Dallas Magazine. They accompany a story about Marcus Hiles, a Texas real estate developer who likes to brag about his net worth, has powerful political connections, owns lots of expensive toys, and doesn’t always treat women very nicely. For some reason, he sounds familiar to another celebrity real estate developer we all know. Thanks to art director, Kevin Goodbar, for this fun assignment! You can view my new website here!

Custom Holiday Cards

Every Christmas I draw custom cards in celebration of our four-legged family members. It's fun to give my loved ones little original drawings. Here are a few examples from the last three years of holiday drawings.

Sivinanda Yoga

I had the pleasure of illustrating yoga poses for SivinandaBahamas.org. The assignment included illustrating 12 central postures of this practice, as well as the sun salutation. It felt surreal to be illustrating warm beach scenes while sitting in the frigid Hudson Valley! You can follow these poses on their blog. Thanks to art director Elena Erber for this enlightening assignment.  To view my portfolio, please visit my new website!

Rutgers Line Drawings

I tend to spend a lot of mental energy coming up with clever concepts for illustration assignments. It was a nice change of pace to create these simple line drawings for my friends at Rutgers Magazine. They accompany four profiles of new faculty members - who specialize in everything from the study of Lyme Disease to feminism in Iraq. Thanks to art director John VanCleaf for this fun assignment.
