From the Poles to the Equator

I’m honored to have this piece on display in a public art box, which is located at 7260 South Broadway in Red Hook, NY (right next to Holy Cow Ice Cream). This artwork is titled From the Poles to the Equator, and it was designed to draw attention to endangered and vulnerable species around our planet. Enormous thanks to the Red Hook Sustainable Communities Program for helping local artists share their creations in our community!

Holiday Cards

It’s become a tradition for me to draw custom holiday cards for my loved ones. These are three of my favorites, as they depict our beloved four-legged family members. As you can tell, I’m way behind on updating this blog. I apologize for that, and will work diligently to catch up. Thanks for viewing!

Riverdale Women of television

Here’s a new piece for Riverdale County School in the Bronx. This story is about three graduates who’ve become successful Television writers/show-runners (for series including Gilmore Girls, Supergirl, Glow, and the Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce). They share their thoughts about creating careers in this industry.  Special thanks to Cicely Upham for this fun assignment, and for art directing this piece!

A Tin Full of Tunes

Here are three more drawings from my series, A Tin Full of Tunes. These pieces are inspired by a mysterious box full of index cards I found at a yard sale (and bought for one dollar). All that was typed on each card was the name of a song, and the singer/band which performed the song.  I'm not sure of the original purpose of these little cards, but I saw them as an opportunity to interpret through drawings. I hope you get a kick out of them!

A Tin Full of Tunes

Years ago, at a yard sale, I found a mysterious tin full of index cards (which I bought for $1.00). All that was typed on each card was a song title, and the name of a singer or band. The reason why these cards were made is unknown, but their sparse canvases provided a spark .  Here are a few drawings of which will hopefully be a fun series. More to come soon!

American illustration Interview

It was an honor to participate in an interview with American Illustration, part of their DART series (Design Arts Daily). The interviewer, Peggy Roalf, asked very thoughtful questions about my map drawings, sketchbook images, what my habits are, and who my influences are. You can read the full interview here!

PCOM Cover Art

Here's art from one of my most daunting assignments; a portrait of thirteen distinguished faculty members of a prestigious Medical school (which will appear on their magazine cover). My client is one of the oldest medical schools in America, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  I'm honored to be the first illustrator (ever) to have contributed to their alumni publication, Digest.  Thanks to communications manager, Jennifer Leone, for a great assignment. I'll be posting more about this project soon...

PS. I also illustrated this portrait of the PCOM president, Matthew Schure, to accompany his "Letter from the President" column in this upcoming issue.
