Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve

Here's a drawing commissioned by the Friends of the Great Salt Lake. This conservation group asked me to depict the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. The drawing is a gift to the outgoing president of the organization. I used an 1885 US Geological Survey map as canvas backdrop. Prints of this piece are available here!

This commissioned project came about after the organization purchased an original piece of mine last year - a depiction of Robert Smithson's earth art masterpiece, "Spiral Jetty", which also sits on the Great Salt Lake. You can view my entire collection of map drawings here!

Atwater Gallery Exhibit

I'm thrilled to be included in a group show at the Atwater gallery in Rhinebeck, N.Y.  The six pieces I submitted are part of a series called World Tour. The drawings were inspired by a dilapidated old atlas. You can read the story behind them here, or see the full collection here. This exhibit will be on display today through May 18th, 56 E. Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY.

World Tour

For decades I've been holding onto an old dilapidated atlas. It seemed to be calling out to me from the bookshelf, "You've got got the whole world at your fingertips. Go ahead, explore." So I finally honored this advice (with ample assistance from sumi ink). I hope you enjoy these impressions from the first leg of my journey!
