Mayan Face

In 1979, my parents visited the ancient Mayan site of Tikal in Guatemala. Recently, my father gave me the original map of the grounds, and I used it to channel this drawing.

Signed prints of this piece are available here (in my Etsy shop)!

Julius Caesar

It was fun to bust out some spray paint for this drawing, sparked by some ancient Roman themes.

Central American Carving

I have always been fascinated by the stone carvings of ancient Mayan Culture. Having found a vintage map of Central America, I thought this would be a good canvas for paying tribute to this art form. This drawing depicts the great ruler of the ancient city-state, Quiriguá (located in Guatemala). His name was K'ak' Tiliw Chan Yopaat, and his reign lasted from 724 to 785 AD, when he died. This stone stele sculpture exists a monument honoring this significant ruler.
