I’m thrilled to have this tiny turtle drawing, measuring 5” by 7”, included in the juried Small Works show at @440gallery , 440 6th Ave, Brooklyn, NY. The opening is December 2, 4-6 PM. To any of my Brooklyn friends, I’d love to see you there. Enormous thanks to the juror, Grace R Freedman, for including me in this exhibit.

Hawaiian Sea Turtle
In Hawaii, the Green Sea Turtle is known as a Honu, which means a sacred animal. They are symbols of good luck and wisdom.

Hawaiian Ink
This drawing was recently licensed to be used as set dressing on the TV show, Magnum PI, which is filmed in Hawaii. I have yet to seen this reboot of the 1980s series, but my favorite set piece from the original version has gotta be Tom Selleck's mustache.
Prints of this piece are available here!

Barack Obama
Here's a portrait of one of my favorite U.S. presidents, Barack Obama, created on a vintage map of Hawaii (where he was born). This is part of a series called World Tour - in which I use pages from an old atlas as canvases - painting images relating to the place on each map.
Prints are available here!

Hawaiian Ink
Here's a drawing I started two years ago - which was originally a straightforward portrait of this tattooed 19th century Polynesian. The composition looked a bit stagnant, so I added the Hawaiian palms trees today - which hopefully makes this picture more dynamic. This is part of my series drawn on old maps. You can view the whole map collection here!

World Tour
For decades I've been holding onto an old dilapidated atlas. It seemed to be calling out to me from the bookshelf, "You've got got the whole world at your fingertips. Go ahead, explore." So I finally honored this advice (with ample assistance from sumi ink). I hope you enjoy these impressions from the first leg of my journey!
