James Gandolfini

He ruled this turf with killer acting chops.

Rest in peace, James Gandolfini.

This is part of an ongoing project, where I'm
attempting to draw a picture on every

map in an old Rand McNally atlas.

Stay tuned for more!

Rutgers Health Team

Here's a new piece for Rutgers Magazine. It accompanies a story about the amazing new health system the school is creating. The network will serve all of New jersey and beyond. A very broad range of services will be represented under one umbrella. In order to capture the right spirit for this story, I submitted many sketches. Below are a some of the ideas:

Lyme Aid

Here's a new piece for Rutgers Magazine. Tick-born Lyme disease is a growing nemesis to those who live near nature, and it's very difficult to diagnose in patients. Researchers at this university are developing a far more reliable test to positively identify this blight. That's great news for people afflicted with this difficult-to-detect disease. Below are some of the sketches I submitted for this story...

As someone who has suffered from Lyme disease. I'm thrilled that Rutgers is conducting this important research. A special thanks to art director John Van Cleaf for another fascinating assignment!

Short Order Lovers

Here's a new piece I cooked up for Rutgers Magazine. It accompanies an article about a Greek husband and wife who were the longest running couple employed by this great university. They were short-order cooks - and given that they both lived to over 100 years old - I'd like to know what's in the tasty burgers they served up! Thanks to art director Jon Van Cleaf for another fun assignment.

Rutgers Magazine Art

Here's new work for Rutgers Magazine. This illustration accompanies a story about a new program which teaches students how to analyze healthcare data - and figure out ways to make the system run more efficiently. Below are concepts I submitted for this story:

The illustration below is about a new machine which has been developed to help train soccer goalies. It shoots out soccer balls at various speeds and angles to improve a player's skills and reflexes. Thanks to art director, John Van Cleaf for another fun project.

May you reach all your goals in 2015!

I Do at Rutgers U.

I'm a regular contributor to the Rutgers Magazine. This drawing accompanies a story about the many marriage proposals which have taken place on campus. The backdrop here is Old Queens, one of the most iconic buildings at Rutgers - built in 1809. My inner-romantic was thoroughly 'engaged' in brainstorming ideas for this piece...

Thanks to Michelle Cody for proposing another fun assignment to me.

Rutgers Radio Reunion

Here's a spot (for Rutgers Magazine) with a very nostalgic theme. The story is about a reunion of alumni who first met working at Rutgers' Radio station in 1968. Much has changed since then, but many of these friendships have stayed strong throughout this 45 year span. Thanks to art director, Michelle Cody for another fun assignment. You see see ideas I submitted for this illustration below.

Thanks for viewing.

Rutgers Alumni

What's so fun about contributing to Rutgers Magazine? It's never knowing which direction each assignment will take me. There are so many interesting activities going on at this great university - as as well as fascinating lives being lived by faculty and alumni. The above piece accompanies an article about a retired couple (both Rutgers graduates) who explore the U.S. in their RV. This vehicle is literally a home on wheels - allowing them to live spontaneously on the road .

"Around the United States in Fifty Days"

Another story follows an alumnus who realized his dream of playing on fifty golf courses in fifty states in fifty days. I can see Bill Murray buying the movie rights to this incredible fete.

"Five on Five"
The drawing above addresses ways to promote various Rutgers functions.

"Oh, The Places You'll Go"

Still, other stories address the career paths you can take.

Here are a few examples of sketches for this project:
