American Educator

This piece for American Educator accompanies a story called Community Schools - A Promising Foundation for Progress. These schools are strategically integrated with their local communities in order to support economically-challenged families. They work with local community centers, health organizations, civic and business leaders to provide families with a safety net beyond the ABC’s of education. These institutions are super valuable in communities which are confronted with poverty. A big shout out to all my public school teacher friends. Your dedication makes this world a better place!

Various resources are available to families in need.
Families in need are the focus of community schools

A special thanks to art director, Jennifer Berney, for this fantastic project.

Long Distance Lovers

I created this mixed-media piece for an invitational art exhibition in Erie, PA at the Renaissance Centre. The show is called Post-Romance: Artists' Valentines. Curator Laurence Walzcak asked for artwork exploring expressions & notions of love, romance, mating, passion & longing. My entry is titled Long Distance Lovers. The opening is on February 11th, and runs weekends through the 25th.

Here's a dealt of the piece. The original measures 12" by 12"

Thanks to Laurence for including me in the exhibit!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Short Order Lovers

Here's a new piece I cooked up for Rutgers Magazine. It accompanies an article about a Greek husband and wife who were the longest running couple employed by this great university. They were short-order cooks - and given that they both lived to over 100 years old - I'd like to know what's in the tasty burgers they served up! Thanks to art director Jon Van Cleaf for another fun assignment.

Emotional Lottery

I'm thrilled to be displaying this piece in the juried "Faces and Figures" exhibit at the Red Hook CAN Gallery, Feb. 1st - 24th.  The drawing was created with sumi ink on a lottery ticket, and is titled "Emotional Lottery".

Emotional lottery

The drawing is part of series of meditations on the lottery.
You can see more of these pieces here.

You can see my drawing (along with the work of some very talented painters
and photographers) at the Red Hook CAN Gallery,  Red Hook, N.Y.,
through February 24th.

Thanks for viewing, and always remember,
there's more than one way to win the lottery; - )
