Andy Warhol

I recently read an enlightening biography of Andy Warhol (Pop, by Tony Scherman and David Dalton). One unique aspect of his vision was that he saw little difference between art galleries and supermarkets. In other words, he saw art in even the most mundane aspects of American culture. With that in mind, I attempted drawing this little tribute to his genius.

Signed prints of this piece are available here (in my Etsy shop).

Holy Cow

Here's my interpretation of Holy Cow, an iconic ice cream parlor located in my town. On summer evenings, there are usually long lines of people outside the door, waiting to get their fix of this addictive treat. I drew this piece with ink and charcoal, directly onto an 18.5" by 16" map of Red Hook, NY. It's part of a series called Local Life, which is on display at Taste Budd's Cafe until October 31st. If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop in and take a peek!

Quality prints of this piece are available here.

Golden Wok

Here's a new drawing of the Golden Wok, which happens to be my favorite Chinese restaurant. I painted directly on a their menu to create this piece. This drawing is part of my exhibit of locally themed drawings which are on display at Taste Budd's Cafe in Red Hook. If you live close by, I hope you'll stop in and take a peek!

Historic Village Diner

Here's a new drawing of the Historic Village Diner, in which a place mat was used as the canvas. It's included in my exhibit of locally themed drawings at Taste Budd's Cafe in Red Hook ( until October 31st). Beautiful prints of this piece are available here.
