Here’s a pet portrait commission I drew for friends who recently lost their sweet dog, Lloyd. He loved playing outdoors, and this is a depiction of him as a puppy. 

Muhammed Ali

He floated like a butterfly, and stung like a bee. Known as ’the Greatest’, this legendary boxer was also an civil rights activist, anti-war protester, devout Muslim, and quick-witted poet.  His legacy will float on forever.

Kacey Musgraves

Here's a small study of singer/songwriter, Kasey Musgraves. This drawing of one of my favorite country artists was inspired by her song, Butterflies. No doubt, when I listen to her music, I get butterflies!

Hannibal Lecter

Here's a new portrait of the infamous Hannibal Lecter. Known as Hannibal the Cannibal, this serial killer left an indelible mark on our culture through novels written by Thomas Harris. He was brilliantly portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in the film, The Silence of the Lambs. His character is a perfect foil to the FBI agent played by Jodie Foster. Considering this movie was released back in 1991, it sensitively addresses many concerns which resonate with today’s #MeToo movement.

Another Peacock

Welcome...

...to my blog. I was trying to think of an appropriate drawing to start off with, but was 'drawing' a blank. This may be due to the fact that it's 'hot and humid as heck' outside my window today! After a solid month of rain, the trees & flowers are bursting with color. Bees and assorted bugs are busily buzzing though the air! All this activity jarred my memory of the image above, "Summer Symphony", which attempts to capture the composition of our warmest season.  Hopefully this picture starts my blog off on an upbeat musical note.

My goal going forward is to shed light on the creative process behind various illustration projects. I'll draw upon over 20 years of publishing experience to share my knowledge of picture making. I hope that you'll gain some useful insights, get a few laughs, or at the very least, enjoy some of my quirky drawings. Here we go!
