Vigil Honoring Victims of Gun Violence

This sketch may be rain soaked, but bad weather didn’t stop a wonderful crowd from standing in vigil to honor students and teachers killed by gun violence. If we're really a civilized society, we've got to value Public Safety over gun rights!

This vigil, which took place on Presidents Day, was organized by a 13 year old girl in our town.  I'm in awe of the students who are leading the charge for sensible gun laws. Below is the sign she posted to get the word out.

Tattooed across peaceful shores,

between this lake of childhood frolics,

and an undertow of uncertain fortunes,

waterfalls and whirlpools beckon from below,

pulling for a tumble into uncharted territory.

The Emergent Mind

This piece for Harvard Magazine accompanies a story called The Emergent Mind. It’s about a research study which shows that infants are capable of abstract thought. They’re able to understand “patterns of activity in terms of variables like cost and reward. Below are sketches I submitted for this project. Riverdale Country School

Here’s a little drawing commissioned by my friends at Riverdale Country School. It’s unique shape was designed to fit on envelopes containing promotional material about the school. I was asked to illustrate this quote by the school’s founder, Frank Sutliff Hackett:  “It is not the work done which inspires enthusiasm, but the work to be done -- the long vista and the yet unfolded close.”
